Aim
Participants understand the concept of competencies and try to name some of their key competencies.

TIME NEEDED
1,5 hours
IMPLEMENTATION
Positive feedback on the back (10 min)
Each participant puts paper (A-4 size or similar) on their back.
Participants take markers (each person one marker) and walk around the room. Each participant is asked to give positive feedback onto the back of as many other participants as possible about their strong points/skills/knowledge/positive characteristics.
After 5-7 minutes exercise stops, and participants can read papers from their backs.
What is competence? (10 min)
Presentation: 3 aspects of competence: knowledge – skills – attitudes.
Storytelling (40 min)
Working in three groups (Trio Storysharing according to Art of Hosting principles)
- Person 1: Storyteller
- Person 2: Harvester
- Person 3: Witness
Speaking stories, discovering unique competencies of the storyteller. Then the roles turn around two more times.
What are vital competencies? (10 min)
Explaining the concept of key competencies – competencies that are crucial for employability.
Identifying connections between my competencies and key competencies (20 min)
Work in the same trio groups as before.
Debriefing questions: how can we connect everyone’s unique competencies to the concept of 8 key competencies? To which of the critical competencies can we connect each competence?
