That’s me!

Aim

To make participants  aware of personal positive traits, characteristics, introspection

Description

TARGET GROUP

Young people (15 – 29 years)

TIME NEEDED

30 minutes (depending on how big the group is, if it is a bigger one, you can do smaller groups, even if it gives more intimacy).

IMPLEMENTATION

With a group of participants, you do a circle with chairs. Ask participants to sit down. Then you question them to think about one person in their life (can be even from their past) that encourages, loves, or support them – has a positive impact on them and their life (give them 1min to think about that person).

After this 1 min, ask if everybody has this person in mind(if not, ask this person to think about the person they offered help and the person was thankful to or who was making them smile last time etc.). After this, you invite all participants to stand up and go behind their chairs.

Then you tell them, “Now you are a person you tough of”. Every participant has 2min to present themselves “through the eyes” of the person in their mind (like this person is speaking instead of them). When they all finish, you invite them to sit down, and then it is time for reflection (10 to 15 min).

Questions that you can ask:

  • How did you feel when you were speaking, and how do you feel now?
  • What was the purpose of the activity?
  • Do you think it would be any different if you would present yourself “through your own eyes”? If yes, in what kind of way?
